All our Sunflex aluminium systems are supplied with a high quality factory finish as standard. The standard available finishes for the Sunflex range of aluminium systems are Silver anodised or polyester powder coated White RAL 9016, Aluminium RAL 9006, Grey Aluminium RAL 9007 and Anthracite Grey RAL 7016. All handles are specially designed to complement the door system; standard colours are Black RAL 9011, White RAL 9016, Grey Aluminium RAL 9007, Anthracite Grey 7016 or Standard Silver. Gaskets are in Black with hinges mounted within seal sightline available in black or white. A Marine environment finish that is required to all systems within 5000 metres of a shoreline. A finish for chemical/swimming pool environments is also available.
Other RAL colours (over 200 colours available). Even different colours to the inside and outside (dual colour) or different wood grain effects are available for a nominal charge. The robust aluminium extrusion has been separated by a 22mm polyamide thermal break, one of the largest thermally broken systems on the market. This gives the SF70 a distinct advantage over the competition by ensuring that it is most energy-efficient, whilst maintaining a sleek look, narrow sightlines and a high security. We are exclusively able to offer complete versatility in meeting your own design requirements, matching in with any conventional aluminium or UPVC door and window systems with a choice of profiles.
All framework is assembled with patented moulded corner blocks and the panels are machine mitred at the corners rather than the cheaper butt jointed alternatives. Each panel is connected to the next panel/outer frame by a minimum of 3 hinges, ensuring an even, continuous seal around the perimeter of each door panel.
Available with two choices of track, the standard stepped weathered track for severe weather rating or the flush track for added safety and convenience. The aluminium flush track can be recessed into the floor to provide a level walkthrough with an uninterrupted floor finish, compliant to Building Regulations Doc M for disabled access.Night vent locking position - a unique feature on the system is that the shoot rods can be locked into a second position on the tracks, allowing partial opening for continued ventilation whilst leaving the doors securely locked.
Single door fitted with multi-point locking system with five lever key-locking cylinder, incorporating either a latch for convenience, mushroom headed ESPAG bolt and shootbolts top and bottom (Handle in horizontal position when closed) or mushroom headed ESPAG bolt and shootbolts top and bottom (Vertical position in-line with door frame when closed). All intermediate and slave doors are fitted with internal flush handles only to operate a shootbolt mechanism, key locking facility available for additional internal security depending upon requirements. The locking system is incorporated within the framework within each intermediate panel, operated by an internal flush handle. The shoot bolt rods are manufactured in aluminium and linked by a corrosion resistant cam. In addition, they are capped with polyamide cones that prevent any metal damage to the tracks when locking, whilst compressing the panels tight against the top and bottom seals.
A five-lever Euro profile cylinder key lock, approved by the Association of British Insurers with handles is also fitted to the end lead door or single pass door where there are an odd number of panels, or to the first opening pair, in an even number of panels. Again as a bespoke system these can be fitted to either the inside only or both internally and externally as required. By integrating the locking cylinder into the existing profile in this way eliminates the need for an additional add-on profile familiar with other sub standard systems, ensuring all sightlines remain minimal and symmetrically the same.
Locking hinge pins & internally glazed - for further improved security the entire range of Sunflex folding sliding door systems are internally glazed as standard, with external centre secured locking hinge pins and interlocking panels.
Optional added security - where required additional cylinder key locks can be added at every intermediate handle point for higher security. Mortice locks can also be fitted where a latching position is required for added convenience. As an alternative to mortise locks, a multi-point ESPAG lock can be fitted. As well as providing a latching position this also offers the additional benefit of multi-point locking throughout the height of the system. Panic locks can be fitted for fire escapes, etc. Sunflex also offers electric latch release locks and roller ball latch locks for commercial use.
The gaskets (consisting of long-lasting EPDM) between the door panels are continuous and have a unique chamfered design. This means that they interlock and form a highly efficient double seal, providing the system with the following distinct advantages:
- A severe weather rating that ensures there are no draughts or rattling when the doors are closed.
- It is finger safe - a particular advantage if small children are present - as the gaskets provide a buffer to prevent fingers from being trapped.
- The interlocking of the gaskets means that, even if the hinges were forcefully removed, one panel would be prevented from passing another, thus providing an additional security feature.
- A major feature of the gasket interlock design is that they are very discreet, only 11mm wide in total, ensuring minimal appearance. In addition this prevents potential thieves from being able to position a lever between the panels.
Weather seals (weathered track) - creates a severe weather rated system by providing a triple-rebated perimeter seal (The SF45 system achieves DIN 18055, Category C performance for wind loading and water leakage.)
Weather seals (flush track) - the bottom seal between the door and the flush track is via double, twin nylon brush piles separated by a twin fin seal, giving an effective seal. It is recommended that some form of a sunken drainage channel and a slope away from the doors be integrated, to avoid any pooling of water.
The SF70 is a bottom running system, consisting of wheels which are manufactured from tough glass fibre reinforced polyamide set around a maintenance-free sealed bearing, giving quiet, smooth operation with optimum resistance to extreme temperatures. Each wheel and guide mechanism can carry up to 200 kilograms. The advantage with a bottom running system is that unlike a top running system, should there be any structural movement above, the doors will not snag. With a bottom running system the weight is at the base, enabling the guide at the head to have a degree of tolerance. The fact the wheels of the running mechanism sit high on the track minimises the risk of the operating system fouling should any dirt or debris that build up in the bottom of the track. Self-lubricating collar type bearings provide quiet operation without squeaking hinges.
Both the handles and hinges are made of cast alloy. The handles are sprung loaded and specially designed to be flush fitting to enable door panels to stack flat when fully opened. Large ‘D’ handles and automatic door closures can be fitted if required, for commercial instances. Trickle vents of either 5000mm2 or 2500mm2 can also be incorporated within the head profile.
Pull handles - when the folding door system opens externally the intermediate panels are fitted with a moulded ‘D’ shaped handle this is attached to the internal hinge between two even panels and sits neatly within the gasket line enabling easy closure of the panels against the compression top and bottom gasket seal
Design options - The SF70 can be tailored according to your design and specification. Options include mullion/transoms, plant on bars, deeper top and bottom rails and solid infill panels. Additional ventilation can also be added by incorporating a built in tilt and turn window.
The versatility of the SF70 allows us to provide matching single access doors, French doors, tilt and turn windows, fixed windows and glazed screens. Also available is the new Parallel Sliding Tilting door (PST), which enables one panel to tilt inwards and slide on a mono track behind a fixed panel. Using matching profile sections, enables you to achieve an aesthetically uniform appearance throughout. In addition, fixed glazing can be built above the folding door system. Where this is required for wider openings, strengthening profiles are incorporated within the door framework to aid lateral stability.
